IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Wildlife Photo Academy is situated in Ranua in Finnish Lapland, approximately 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle. We arrange seminars and workshops, which have been designed for wildlife photographers and birdwatchers. Over the years we have built more than 200 nestboxes, artificial nests and feeding places, just to make the denizens of the woods happy. The "academy" is open from the middle of May until the end of September. Our permanent workshops are usually over a long weekend, from Friday to Sunday. For participants we have five wooden chalets, each with a living room, kitchen and - of course - a genuine Finnish Sauna. The main building has a dining room and a very interesting library of books of wildlife photography. Our new auditorium "The Nut" has all possible equipment to project your best slides three meters wide. Please bring some slides with you. Huge applause is guaranteed!

INDIVIDUAL PHOTOGRAPHERS. If you are in Finland either on your own or as a couple, you are welcome to the academy during the times of regular workshops. You can participate the official program, if you wish, but we will understand, if you would prefer to photograph for the whole time. Please make sure in advance, that the program details are correct and that we have room for you. The chalets include 2-4 beds and you may have to share the house with some Finnish photographers. THE COST AND WHAT IS INCLUDED. If you join a Finnish group as described, the cost is very moderate (year 2002 rates), total charge for 3 days EUR 200,-/person. (appr.125 Pounds Sterling) The cost includes "everything except trips and films", You get accomodation, all meals and coffee breaks as often as you wish, free use of our professional photo products, like tripods, hides, camouflage nets and covers, rowboats, canoes and permanent hides. We are proud to have a good collection of special lenses and accessories, mainly for Canon EOS and Nikon cameras. The use is free, but please do not drop; the risk is yours!

Please note, that we do not have any kiosk sales, so kindly bring your personal goodies and enough film material with you. Please let us know in advance, if you have any food allergies or special requirements and we will do our best to cater for your needs. As the time you spend with us is relatively short, we recommend, that you extend your Finland tour by visiting some of the places advertised in this leaflet. Contact them direct and tell your wishes. We also recommend a visit to the Ranua Zoo, an Arctic wildlife park, our next door neighbours, only 20 miles away from us. DO YOU HAVE FRIENDS ? Establish a group! If you get together 6-10 persons to visit, you have a good chance to reserve the academy for your use only, better prices for flights (Contact Norvista Ltd!), a professional wildlife photographer as your Group Leader etc.Your total cost depends on your requirements, the time you spend, group size, selected extra programs etc. We all do our best to help you. FINAL CALL. Take an open mind and comfortable clothing! Do not forget rain coat and wellingtons. Please remember, that the wildlife photography in Finland is not like "window shopping" - the animals are wild and you may need some patience, your own skill and a little good luck! We do our best with the help of Nightless Nights, famous Northern Light and the unspoiled Nature. WELCOME !
